meltt

Together with Eric Dunford, Erin McGrath, David Backer and David Cunningham, I developed a novel method for automated integration and disambiguation of event data called Matching Event Data by Location, Time and Type (meltt). The method is introduced in Donnay et al. (2019) which appeared in the Journal of Conflict Resolution. Eric Dunford and I wrote a corresponding R package that computationally efficiently implements the methodology in a user-friendly interface. The package is available on CRAN, for a detailed description of the method please refer to our GitHub repository.

As a result of a collaboration with colleagues in computer science, we developed an interactive visualization tool that allows to explore the results of meltt for integrating conflict event data from multiple sources across the African continent. The tool was evaluated in a paper that appeared as Mayer et al. (2021) in Computer Graphics Forum and is available here: meltt.net
